The Melrose Wheelchairs Calendars for 2012 are out, this time they have young people and parents who use our wheelchairs.
These kids are getting on with life and getting about in our wheelchairs, mobility is very important for independence while growing up and we are delighted to help these children and their parents.

One of our top fabricators has recently finished building a trike.
Gary has spent over a year completing the project, he brought a Suzuki M109R off Trade Me and set about converting it into a 3 wheeler worthy of motorcycle concours honours.
To cap it off he built his own custom folding wheelchair and trailer in matching colours.

Screen-printed with a Melrose Rhino - wheelchair rugby logo in blue and white on the front and a Melrose New Zealand - USA two headed bird logo in blue and white on the back, these are available in any colour (as long as its black).
A wide elastic waistband keeps the draught out while a unipocket is good to keep the hands warm. Sizes available from S to XXL.

Thats right folks, we can now supply these amazing wheels. They come with Red or Yellow trim (logo stickers) and are available in 24" and 25" sizes.
The spokes are flattened continuous carbon fibre that are sealed into the carbon fibre hub as they pass through it. Spoke Nipples are ultra-strong 7075 T6 aluminum cold forged and anodized.
The Rim is a heat treated 6061 T6 aluminum proprietary double walled design as used in most of todays best wheelchair wheels. The Weight Limit is 113kg.
But the killer deal for this wheel is the weight, ONLY 550g PER WHEEL, compare that to the Spinergy SLX at 850g.
Added Efficiency WX2.5 wheels roll more easily and are easier to push. Mobility increases and fatigue diminishes with reduced effort.
Discover better health. Smooth and easy rolling means less stress on arms and shoulders, which often leads to repetitive motion injury among wheelchair users.
Easier to Use. WX2.5 wheels are easier to transport. Removing or breaking down a wheelchair often involves awkward lifting and arranging.

Comfortable, transportable shower and toilet chairs
Thats right, you can take these apart, store them in a carry case and then take them on holiday with you. Only one tool is required (supplied) to easily dismantle
these for storage, and even the carry bags can be made with wheels to make them super easy to transport about.
We fabricate, test, and use these ourselves utilising our paraplegic and tetraplegic staff members. Fabricating these ourselves allowed the design team to aim for strength and simplicity
within the designs to provide a product that should last for years to come.
These are all made from aluminium with stainless steel and composite fittings so rusting parts are kept to a minimum.
All seating areas are padded for comfort with easy to clean surfaces. The Melrose Transportable Commode/Shower Chair also has a toilet seat with an opening that can be positioned towards
either side or the back as well as the front.

At second glance you could be easily forgiven if you thought that these castors were made by Glance Wheels, but no, we make them here at Melrose Wheelchairs.
These ones are based on the Classic style Glance Wheel - you can select a Glance Wheel design or you can create an original design yourself.
They are attached to the wheelchair by our new style bearing fork - the bearings for the fork stud are in the fork, not on the wheelchair. This new system allows for a much smaller castor pivot and lets us
repackage the previously bulky pivot giving us more room for innovative pivot placement on your wheelchair.
